Why I'm interested in learning languages
Hi everyone,
How are you? Today, I'm going to talk about why I like learning languages. Many of you came to this university probably because you want to learn English or because you love English! Also, I love too, so I'm learning English, Korean, Chinese and Spanish. First, I started to learn English at 12 years old. My junior high school participated in an international exchange program for a company called Hakuho Foundation. The principal was the principal of a Japanese school in Malaysia, so there was a lot of international exchange at the school. It was very good because I was able to associate with students from Mongolia and friends from Turkey and other unusual countries. As an extension of that program, I went to Australia for a 10-day homestay. The Foundation paid for everything, so I was honestly very happy to be able to go for free. More than that, my English grades improved a lot after I went, so I am glad I went. Then I went to New Zealand to study, and I felt a sense of accomplishment in being able to understand and communicate more and more in English. Next, I was also interested in a third language and thought about making Chinese that, but it was too difficult and I give up. However when my mom took me on a trip to Korea, I became interested in Korea, which I had never been interested in, so I started to learn Korean. I can speak Korean and English to the point where I can communicate, but I'm not ready to use it for academic or working purposes. When people enjoy learning a second language, they can enjoy learning subsequent languages as well, so we should learn harder and enjoy it!
Thank you for reading.
